Which Industries Employ 100% of the World Population (and Comfortably) Forever?
How do you get everyone everywhere enough lifetime income to be comfortable?
Do there need to be a number of industries that cover the full world population?
How does competition get shared between these?
We know that competition creates higher quality goods at lower prices
Competition is also connected to GDP growth- which prevents an area from going into a recession spiral
Solution stimulator: Do we solve this on this 3 levels: locally, regionally and world-wide? Let’s be ethical and always do world-wide after locally and regionally.
And strongly beware fake solutions- solutions that appear to solve a problem but cause -10s to -4s… all -10s to -4s need to be prevented. We don’t live in 1500 AD anymore… we need solutions that are appropriate for the future.
Solution stimulator: Flow on effects
Some industries create a lot of employment for other industries, especially industries that employ people with diverse skills that really need to be employed (e.g. need to pay rent).
What are the 20 highest potential industries globally for having the most positive flow on effects for the largest number of at-risk, vulnerable or suffering people? And when we fill this list up, what is the next 20?
I think (ecofriendly enough) tourism is one of the best global helpers of incomes- a lot of countries and areas globally are literally dependent on it, and it has high potential for other places. As people become wealthier, they enjoy visiting new places. This depends on everyone making their area genuinely safe
A lot of places like eateries and restaurants- they’re a relatively cheap way to treat yourself- like they say, you buy a cup of coffee for the experience of sitting in the ambience just as much as the coffee itself
Building and renovating is a really big industry, especially where you can add value to your house. If there were markets that particularly helped poor people add value to their property or items for reselling, this would be really helpful. However, it wouldn’t be the most profitable thing. So how would you get people to want to stay in this market for really long times?
How much of the world’s population have we employed or self-employed either directly (through these industries) or indirectly (e.g. the tradie needs lunch, the takeaway person needs to buy new clothes, the clothes salesperson wants to buy a newspaper- these are the indirect automatic flow on effects of the industry we put in the 20).
Everyone needs food. But some people make a profit through their cooking and takeaway skills, like patisseries. This is a cheap treat for people to buy, so even people who don’t have much income can afford this.
A lot of the things we buy, we buy for the experience- for example, people with more disposable income pay for more expensive just as much for the experience of going there and getting to spend time their favourite as they do for their skills.
Creating experiences that people really want to keep buying, AND that are genuinely good for people and for the environment (or good enough). Because after people buy needs, they buy wants (if they can afford them)
Businesses love IT because it makes everything cheaper- IT skills are often used all over the world
This is a problem because automation cuts job numbers. But that’s how it is, so its better to accept it now and adapt the industries that employ everyone as soon as possible.
With the global system, we definitely need delivery networks, and they compete with each other. The good thing about delivery networks is that they hire labourers, they hire drivers, they hire things like this
We also need food, which gratefully hires labourers as well as farmers. How do these people earn more over their life time? I don’t know- maybe through lower risk investments?
However, it is absolutely crucial for all farmers and labourers everywhere to have a “sector-wide” back-up plan A, B and C in case there is a drought or years of drought or a 5 year drought
Every business needs to sell itself. Micro business would have the entrepreneur in charge of sales, and larger businesses might hire one or some sales people.
Everyone wants “make your commute usable or at least comfortable” services
A lot of people like events- e.g. public speaking or something interesting- if it is affordable enough or the price is within demand
What about “improve your living environment” services? Surely most people would want this?
Internet and mobile phones are so needed for development- they might need to be government subsidized first in poor countries, but it’s a really important part of education
Needs industries- all the needs industries across the world and in countries need to find ways to work together to employ or self-employ the maximum number of people
The financial sector- this involves a lot of different things- you could say, 50 levels of it
Thinking of the above, how much of the world’s population would these industries comfortably employ/self-employ either
directly (through these industries) plus
indirectly (e.g. the tradie needs lunch, the takeaway person needs to buy new clothes, the clothes salesperson wants to buy a newspaper- these are the indirect automatic flow on effects of the industry we put in the 20)?
What else is needed?
